Our Story

In 1992, Amy’s parents bought a dilapidated farm house on 14 acres surrounded with pines and backing up to the West Prong branch of the Newport River. They dubbed it The Farm.

For the next two years, all their spare time was spent working on the farmhouse to make it a home. Amy says, “I'm not sure if they knew it then, but they weren't just fixing up a house for us to live in, they were planting our roots.”

Once the farmhouse was habitable the family ditched suburbia and moved full time to The Farm. “When you live in the country you don't need a big house,” reminds Amy. “There is always something to do outside. My brother and I had so much fun growing up here.”

In 2014, her parents added a timber frame barn to create a rustic, rural, and relaxing event site complete with a pond full of ducks, a fire pit for end of day conversations, and trails through the woods to the river.

Now Amy wants to share The Farm with you. As she says, “The Farm isn’t just a destination; it is a feeling, a slower pace, a sense of calm, a place of serene joy.”

Come to The Farm and Amy will introduce you to the animals, show you the way to the river, and tell you the best spot to see the sunrise or set over this enchanted peaceful place. She is ready to have you come for the day to learn about farming, reserve a weekend for your next big event, or just check into The Cottage Airbnb for a break from what rattles you.

Amy’s heart and soul are part of The Farm. She moved here when she was 8 and then after college headed to Hawaii, knowing that she would always come back to her roots.

Amy is a painter and jewelry artist with a creative eye for making the world better. One of her first projects after returning home in 2019 was transforming The Cottage. She took the well-worn family home and turned it into a tranquil hideaway for travelers to enjoy.

As you tour the timber frame event barn with her, her creativity kicks in and she’ll offer suggestions for seating, staging, and surprises. Amy will envision your celebration or conference with you to ensure it is comfortable, memorable, and remarkably relaxed.
